Vanessa Britto, M.D., ’96 M.Sc. (community health), joined Brown in January 2018. Britto is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, completed her residency and fellowship in general internal medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and is a fellow in the American College of Physicians. She is currently an assistant professor of medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
As a student life professional and administrator since 2001, Britto has held leadership roles in the field of college health at the local, regional and national levels. Prior to returning to Brown, Britto was formerly the director of health services at Wellesley College. At Brown, Britto oversees the areas of Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), BWell Health Promotion, Student Accessibility Services and Emergency Medical Services, supervising a combined team of more than 200 staff and students. She returned to Brown University to champion a new chapter and a new vision for health and wellness at Brown — continuing in the tradition of innovation and leadership among peers.
In her spare time, she can be found reading, traveling, enjoying live music (especially jazz), biking or getting in a round of golf.
